The First Look
One of the most emotional moments of a wedding day often happens quietly, away from the guests, and it is the first look. Often with the father or mother of the bride or sometimes another close relative. Whoever it is, there is one thing that always stays the same, the emotion. These moments are full of genuine emotion, nerves, pride and a whole lot of love, making them incredibly special to photograph. Years down the line, these photographs often become some of the most treasured from the day. A timeless reminder of love, pride, and that quiet moment before everything changes.
These are the kinds of moments that can’t be staged and that’s exactly why they’re so powerful. Real moments and emotion making unforgettable memories.
As a father of a daughter, these moments often bring a little happy tear to my own eye. I can only imagine how they feel for the two people involved.
First Look with Father of The Bride
These moments are extremely special to the people involved so I never get in the way. I do not make any noise. I simply stand in the background and capture the moment and then quietly leave the room so that the bride and, in this case her father, can have a few moments alone.
There are seven photos that cover this moment in all. From the moment the bride's father pokes his head around the door, steps in the room and walks over to give her a hug. These three images here are my favourite from the sequence.
I have shown the photos here in black & white but the couple received them in both colour and black & white.
