Wedding Photography at The Asylum

The Asylum wedding venue in London is fabulous and very quirky. It was built in about 1827 and called Caroline Gardens Chapel. Located in Peckham it formed part of a complex of almshouses. The name "asylum" meant a sanctuary, and was a home for elderly retired pub landlords.

The bride got ready with her bridesmaids at the Half Moon Pub in Herne Hill and had their wedding ceremony and reception drinks in the Asylum Chapel. They then boarded an old red London bus that took everyone to the reception at The Lordship pub in East Dulwich. The day was truly wonderful, with a great set of guests and a fabulous couple.

This fantastic couple are truly in love and really enjoyed their day. This moment captures the absolute natural happiness which was on show throughout the whole wedding day. The couple had just been announced as husband & wife and gave a cheer to their friends and family before walking down the aisle.

Natural Moments

I believe that natural moments with people just being themselves always make for the best photos. The couple wanted a few photos with the bus. I simply told them where to stand and asked them to be themselves and have fun. No over the top posing, just two people having a great time.
