Sikh Wedding Photography at the Khalsa Centre Gurdwara

This stunning Sikh wedding took place over several days and several venues. Starting at the Khalsa Centre Gurdwara in Tooting, London for a beautiful religious wedding ceremony. Then heading over the road to the Kings Head pub in Tooting. Two days later the couple had a full wedding day at Shendish Manor in Hemel Hempstead.

Day one of the couples celebrations took place at the Khalsa Centre Gurdwara. The Gurdwara was established in 1984 and is a stunning building set right in the heart of the community. The day began with greetings between the families and the Groom having his Sehra veil put on. Family members exchanged garlands, then the Bride arrived and was ushered to a private room while the wedding guests headed to breakfast. Following breakfast The Sikh wedding ceremony (Anand Karaj) took place. After the ceremony the couple headed across the road to the Kings Head pub for a few drinks with their guests.

My Favourite Wedding Photo

I have chosen this as my favourite photo as it captures the couple just being themselves. The photo looks posed but it is not, the couple had just ordered their pints and turned around, saw the camera and smiled, no over posing, just them being themselves and having a pint.

I love this photograph of a family member giving the groom a hug. It is these little moments that are often missed in highly posed wedding photography.

The grooms Sehra headdress being placed on his head is an important part of the ceremony. They have two purposes, the first being to ward off the evil eye and negative energy. Secondly the veil prevents the groom from seeing his wife before the ceremony.
