How I Photograph A Wedding
This blog post takes a look at some of my documentary wedding photography, the less ordinary and more interesting wedding photos that I take. Over a wedding day I try to work in a documentary fashion for at least 90% of my day. Some couples who book me want purely documentary photos but, most couples want a handful of posed family and bride & groom portraits, at some point during the day. Working in this documentary way, letting the day unfold as it naturally would, without trying to pose everything, allows me to capture the fun and emotion of a wedding day.
Of course I take all the normal wedding photos such as walking down the aisle, the first kiss, cutting the cake, the first dance and everything in between. You can see hundreds of these in my portfolio and other blog posts. Around those key parts of the day I am constantly looking for moments that will help to tell the story of the wedding day in a more unique way, moments that are specific to only that couples wedding day. Including all the bits that the couple will not see on the day because they are busy having a great time.
